Marlene Pizzini For the Havre Daily News pixie@mtintouch.net
"In the spring the guy or gal to really feel sorry for is the avid bowler golfer who averages 120 in both sports!" Hi-Line Lanes offers three lines of bowling for $5 every Friday night. Jackpot bowling is held Saturday nights at 8 p. m. They also host birthday parties. Call 265-5885 for more information. The auto-score keepers at the lanes are really neat computers. They not only keep score but they show the totals with and without handicap. A small screen shows your remaining pins and lanes 9 and 10 show your ball speed. There is also a miscellaneous function that takes you into other areas, dangerous areas, where the punch of one wrong button will delete a bowler and his score. This has happened at least twice that I know of. When a bowler is deleted through this function there is no way to get him or his score back. Any games bowled are gone and will not print out. If this happens and the teams involved cannot agree on that bowler's score, that bowler must rebowl the entire game up to the deletion. I strongly suggest you stay out of that function, it has happened twice, it will happen again. As for looking at your last ball, forget it, that frame is over, focus on the one to come. Havre Youth held their awards and fun day Sunday afternoon. Karen Sloan was to be there to present the awards for the "Dewey No-Tap". Due to an accident, Karen never made it. We wish you a complete and speedy recovery Karen and we will try it again next season. Once again Chris Drew needs a big thank you for putting things together for the kids. Thanks also go out to Yummy Yogurt, Taco Johns, Arctic Circle and the Dairy Queen for pitching in to make the day that much more special. No Hi-Line Lanes is not closing! I also heard that Rudyard's K-Lines would be closing. Both of these are just rumors! The season is in the final stretch and some of the leagues have really tightened up. When possible, I will include the top spots wins for the last few weeks. Ruby Worstell has a birthday tomorrow. Michale Beck and Deanna Olson gain another Friday and Charleen Anderson on Monday. Tony Malsam picked a 5-7; Anna Toner 5-10 and 5-7; Dana Seidel 6-7-10; Michele Denny 2-4-7-10; and this one a 5-10 and 4-5-7. Dee Bitz had the high game of 215 and Michale Beck the series of 529. Michale also had a 210 and a 214, 504. Corinne DeVries shot 200, 512; Lisa Morrell 506; Nicole Cornelius 208; Myrna Morse 522; and Jackie Mayer 504. It was another week of 3s for the men. Shawn Mariani had games of 236, 258, 223 for a 717; Bob Ingram 255, 257, 206 for a 718; and Roy Hamilton 230, 222, 256 for 708. If my record keeping is right this is Roy's first "7" at Hi-Line Lanes. Ed Boucher threw a 254, 670, 259; Brett Antley 246; Minnow Mariani 622; Mike Hamilton 257, 612; Ken Riska 246, 679, 266; Andy Owens 257, 647; Randy 254; and Dave Briere 611. Riska's high game of 266 helped him to the high four game series of 945. Ed Boucher had a 929 and Shawn Mariani 904. Minnow Mariani had a 794 and Mike Hamilton 791.
