Severe weather rocks central Montana

GREAT FALLS

Severe weather moved through parts of the state on Tuesday evening with central Montana getting the brunt of the storms. A thunderstorm rolled through Fort Benton at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday with the National Weather Service reporting "a tornado was confirmed." Ed Kurdy, with the National Weather Service in Great Falls, says the tornado was considered to be "minor." As of this morning there were no reports of significant damage from the storm. Straight line winds of 67 mph hit Ennis at 6:40 p.m. and damaging winds hit the Bozeman area shortly after that. The weather caused several power outages in south-central Montana and all of the television stations in Bozeman were off the air until about 4 a.m. Wednesday because of the strong winds. (AP)
