North Stars ready to start again

It seems like May 11 was a long time ago. And tot he Havre North Stars American Legion baseball team, it was. That's the last time the North Stars took the field for a game when they played a doubleheader against the Lethbridge Class AA and A teams in Lethbridge. And it's been even longer since the North Stars played at Legion Field, all the way back on April 27 to be exact. But all that will change on Saturday as the Havre boys' of summer host the Tri-County Cardinals in a conference doubleheader at Legion Field. The North Stars last two games were difficult ones, backto- back losses in Lethbridge, and they enter Saturday's doubleheader with a 2-4 overall record. Havre's two wins came in season-opening splits with the Great Falls Stallions 'A' team. The North Stars beat the Stallions once in Havre and once in Great Falls. Havre is a 2-2 in conference play heading into an important weekend of games in which the North Stars will play Tri-County on Saturday and the Great Falls Sparkies on Sunday in Great Falls. Three or four wins over the weekend would go a long way towards the young North Stars' district tournament aspirations. Havre's strong suit so far this season has been its pitching, and the staff, led by Paul Jensen, Kyle Miller, Josh Haas and others is healthy heading into this weekend's games. Havre's bats started to warm up before the break too, but the real test for the youthful lineup will start now as conference games begin to take center stage. Saturday's doubleheader with Tri-County gets under way at 5 p.m. at Legion Field in Havre.
