Recent Havre High graduate and standout Blue Pony golfer Stacey Sheppard has received a prestigious college scholarship from the PGA. Sheppard, who played varsity golf for HHS for four seasons is the recipient of a 2008 PGA Scholarship award in the amount of $2,000 based on her excellent academic standing and her extracurricular activities. In addition to helping revive the HHS girl's golf program the last four years, Sheppard also lettered in basketball, softball and track and field. All of the winners, including Sheppard, will be featured in an article in an upcoming issue of PGA Magazine. Meanwhile, in local golf news, the Prairie Farms Men's League is heating up like the weather, The league is now in its second half of the season, and this past Tuesday, Cavaliers earned highteam honors with 26 points. Cavaliers is composed of Doug Ross, Kent McCormick, Paul Tell and Bill Schilling. Trent Normandy shot a 1-under-par 35 to earn low gross, and Gary Baltrusch was low net with a 27.5 On Wednesday night, Wells Fargo wracked up 23 points to take home highteam honors. The team is composed of Scott Leeds, Brian Jenkins, Normandy and Alan Pearson. Normandy was again low gross, this time with a 2-under-par 34, and John Nault was low net with a 29. In recent women's league action at Prairie Farms, Stockman Bank took home high-team honors on June 19 with 23 points. The team is composed of Shauna Albrecht, Becky Wimmer, Stacy Mantle and Pam Veis. Carol Culp was low gross and Mantle took home low-net honors. On June 26, D.A. Davidson was high team with a whopping 31.5 points. The team is composed of Shari Baltrusch, Paula Sheppard, Stacey Sheppard and Patsy Divish. Carrie Kato shot a 41 to earn low-gross honors and Baltrusch was low net with a 32.
