Lois Ann (Moran) Kent, 70, of Townsend died Saturday, July 19, 2008, after a brief illness.
Lois was born May 15, 1938, in St. Ignatius, the daughter of Bernard and Hazel (Cote) Moran. She was the third of seven children. She graduated from high school in St. Ignatius, then earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Western Montana College in Dillon. Lois would go on to earn a master's of teacher education from Western. She met Cecil Kent while a student at Western, and the couple married Aug. 26, 1963. Lois was a career educator, teaching elementary grades in Polson, Arlee and Dillon, then teaching more than 20 years in Havre, at elementary and junior high schools. She retired in 1994, and she and Cecil split their time between their summer home in Townsend and their winter home in Mesa, Ariz. Lois' hobbies included reading, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, crocheting and golf. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings. She is survived by her husband, Cecil; three children, Craig (Beth) Kent of Houston, Texas, Lori Kent of Mesa, Ariz., and Linda Kent, Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Gary, Dylan, Colin and Celia Kent; brothers, Tim Moran of Las Vegas, Don Moran of Eaton, Colo., and Gerald Moran, of Falmouth, Mass.; sister, Kathy Johnston of Boise, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Broadwater School and Community Library, P. O. Box N, 201 N. Spruce St., Townsend, MT 59644.
