Sheila A. Otterstrom, Havre, succumbed to complications during treatment of leukemia on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008.
She was 59. Sheila was born July 27, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family moved back to Havre in December 1950. Sheila attended Havre Public Schools and graduated from Havre High School in 1967. Sheila married Craig Otterstrom in September 1968. Craig was a member of the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at the Havre Air Station. After a short stay in Blaine, Wash. With the Air Force, they relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah. The couple and their two young boys then returned to Havre in 1979. Sheila graduated from Northern Montana College with a business degree in secondary education. She was employed by the local cable company, most recently Bresnan Communications, for nearly 20 years. Sheila spent most of her time with family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed listening to her favorite music, watching her favorite television shows, reading books, and writing poetry. She was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz basketball team. She was a member of the Fifth Avenue Christian Church and the Hi-Line Cruz'n Association. Sheila loved to cruise with her husband and they rarely missed showing their 1968 Ford Falcon at the local annual rod run. Sheila spent time playing with her grandchildren, collecting items including frogs and angels and dancing her way through life. Never missing a nearby gift shop or dollar store, Sheila was sure to gather gifts for friends and family. Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Francis "Pete" Peterson, who worked for 37 years at the Havre Daily News. Sheila is survived by her mother, Bernice Peterson of Havre; her sister, Rosie (Pat) Tierney of Havre; brothers, Frank (Connie) Peterson, Gary (Robin) Peterson of Havre, and Mike (Laura) Peterson of Beaver Dam, Wis.; husband, Craig K. Otterstrom of Havre; sons, James Otterstom of Lavina and Brian "Odie" Otterstrom of Havre; and her three grandchildren, MaKayla, Justice and Tucker Otterstrom all of Lavina. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, Aug. 22, at Fifth Avenue Christian Church, 2015 5th Ave. In Havre at 10 a.m. Memorial donations can be made to the Northern Montana Health Care Foundation for support of the Sletten Cancer Center.
