DORIS E. FEE HUGHES obituary SCOBEY

Long-time Scobey resident, Doris E. Fee Hughes, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, from natural causes at the Daniels Memorial Healthcare Center in Scobey at 101 years of age.

Funeral services were held Sept. 2, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Scobey. Memorial donations may be made to the Scobey United Methodist Church, the Daniels Memorial Healthcare Center or a charity of choice. Doris was born in Rolla, N.D. in 1906, to May A. and Edward E. Fee, the second of five children. She attended grade school in Charbonneau, N.D. and graduated from high school at Bottineau, N.D. After attending the School of Forestry for a year in Bottineau, Doris taught a term at a country school near Charbonneau and then moved with her family to Scobey in 1925. Doris married Frank D. Hughes, a Scobey farmer, in 1926 and spent the next 58 years gracing the Hughes farm. Doris’ greatest love was her family immediate and extended. She leaves behind her loving children, Don (Arleen) Hughes of Kalispell, Lynn Ophus of Havre and J.D. (Sibyl) Hughes of Whitefish; grandchildren, Jim and Lindsay Hughes, Sue and Steve Nelson, Myron and Lori Ophus, Byron and Lisa Ophus, Jay and Patty Hughes, Grant and Sandy Hughes, Leann Hughes and Coleen and Ross Pickert; 11 great-grandchildren; special birthday niece, Doris Jeanne Nelson; 16 nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
