David Lane Hass, 81, of Havre, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2008, in Billings, at home of his daughter Debby Sowders.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service and interment of ashes will be at 1 p.m., Friday Sept. 19, in Savage. Dahl Funeral and Cremation Service of Billings is in charge of arrangements. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.dahlfuneralchapel. com. David was born July 11, 1927, in Sidney, the son of Richard and Frances Hass. He grew up and received his schooling in Sidney, after which he worked in the oil fields and on the family farm. He served his country in the Montana Army National Guard. On Dec. 7, 1950, he was united in marriage to Linda L. McConaha. They resided in Sidney for many years, and moved to Havre in about 1978. Throughout his life he worked as a truck driver and a mechanic. While living in Havre, his wife Linda of 50 years passed away on March 31, 2003. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; an infant son, Richard; three brothers, Rodney, Gordon and Gerald; and a sister, Jane. He is survived by five daughters, Debby Sowders of Billings, Lisa Nunn of Laurel, Diane Matthews of Cannonville, Utah, Teresa Hass of Alexandria, Va. And Sharon Malan of Baker; two sisters, Shirley Pederson of Sun City, Ariz. And Margaret Schafer of New Rockford, N.D.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
