KATHEREN ALPHA (FURLONG) JOHNSON obituary

Katheren Alpha Johnson, 86, died the morning of Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at her home in Havre of natural causes.

Her funeral service will be 2 p. m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home with Pastor John Bruington officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the VFW immediately after the services at the graveside. Memorials in Katheren’s honor may be made to the Havre Day Activity Center, P.O. Box 1847, Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Katheren was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Glenella, Manitoba, Canada, to Thomas and Hilda Irene (Sather) Furlong. She was raised in Havre and attended school here. She graduated high school in 1940 and then attended Kinman Business College. She married Clarence Vernon Johnson in 1946 in Great Falls. Together the couple made their home in Havre and raised their five children. She worked for the Great Northern Railroad and then Burlington Northern Railroad as a stenn clerk from 1942 to 1982, when she retired. Katheren was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her children and was very involved in all of their activities. She loved to listen to music, her extensive music box collection, sewing and reading. Katheren was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence, in 1992; her son Terry in 1975; and one great-granddaughter Shelbi. Katheren is survived by her daughter, Karla (Robert) Arndt of Wolf Creek; sons, Dennis (Diana) Johnson of Chinook, and Corey Johnson and Jon Johnson, both of Havre; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-greatgrandchildren.
