Planning on taking a vacation or trip out of the country over the next year? Need to apply for a passport? The Havre Post Office is offering the chance to conveniently get it taken care of. The Havre Post Office will offer a special Passport Fair for area residents on Saturday, Nov. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Havre Post Office. Appointments are required. To make an appointment, call 265-5581. “We will have postal staff there, knowledgeable in all aspects of processing passport applications, including the taking of your photo for your passport if needed,” said Marion E. William, OIC. “We invite everyone who needs a passport to stop by our Postal Passport Fair on Nov. 15. Our post office staff will take care of your passport application process as conveniently and efficiently as we can. We are pleased to offer our area customers this special passport fair to support their travel needs.” To prepare for the Passport Fair, the post office recommends bringing the following items to save time and help the passport application process go smoothly: Bring proper proof of American citizenship. This must be either: a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state; a previous U.S. passport; a certificate of citizenship; or a naturalization certificate. (Note: a hospital-issued birth certificate alone is not acceptable.) Bring proof of identity. This must be either: a previous U.S. passport; a naturalization certificate; a certificate of citizenship; or a current valid driver’s license, government ID or military photo ID. The passport application requires two recent identical photographs. For people without photos, photo services will be available for a fee for each application payable to the post office. To save time, download a passport application at usps.com/passport and complete it beforehand. Passport applications must be made in person and cannot be made online.
