Hi-Line football players earn Six-Man honors

More area athletes were honored this week for their achievements in high school football as the Northern Six-Man and Class C State Six-Man released its all-conference and all-state awards for 2008. Several Hi-Line players made the lists, including North Star junior quarterback Zack Halter. Halter earned Northern Division First Team honors at quarterback and was also named second-team all-state at the same position. Halter had a stellar season both passing and running for the Knights, who reached the Six-Man playoffs for the second straight year. North Star's Kaleb Freyholtz also earned second-team all-conference honors at receiver, and Big Sandy's Ryne LaBuda and Taylor Ophus were named to the second-team offense as well. LaBuda played various positions for the Pioneers, who made the playoffs in their first season in six-man football. Ophus played end for the Pioneers. LaBuda was also honored on the defensive side of the ball. The 6-1 senior earned second-team honors on defense. Three more North Star players earned all-conference defensive honors, including Nolan Preeshl, who was named to the second team, Connor Kline and Chaz Horinek, who earned honorable mention honors.
