Recycling bins located at Gary & Leo’s Fresh Foods have a new look thanks to Havre Day Activity Center clients and staff. In an effort to make living green look brighter, the group recently applied some elbow grease, primer and paint to the bins. Havre Day Activity Center collects aluminum cans in the bins, the proceeds of which benefit operation of the Center. The Center picks up the cans deposited by folks on a regular basis and processes them for recycling. “The Lions Club of Havre owns the two bins,” said Dan Givens, recycling manager of the Havre Day Activity Center. “They use them as a community drop off for aluminum cans. One gentleman that was here today said the bins are probably 20 years old. The Lions called us about a month ago and asked if we would be willing to pick up the bins, repaint them and do a little repair work on them. We have, hopefully, made them look nice." The bins were painted in the color scheme representative of the Lions Club, purple and yellow. As far as anyone involved knew, it was the first time the bins had been refurbished. The Lions Club is currently looking for a location to place another bin. Members said they have talked to the Atrium Mall about the possibility of placing it in the mall parking lot for the community's convenience. Havre Day Activity Center clients and staff are currently working on the available recycling bin. When finished, the Lions Club will assist in placing it at its new home.
