Four more games, a surprising loss, but another tournament championship. That's the story of the Havre Ice Hawks High School hockey team as they captured the team title at a tournament this weekend in Missoula. The Ice Hawks went 3-1 in Missoula, defeating Idaho Falls for the title on Sunday. The four wins means Havre is still undefeated on the road this season. The tournament got under way on Friday afternoon with the Ice Hawks falling to the Idaho Falls Eagles 4-2. Havre did get 24 saves from star goalie David Zentmire and goals from Todd Roe and Ryan Armstrong, but the Eagles' offense proved to much for Havre in the long run. Also scoring for the Ice Hawks in the loss were Cam Schilling, Shane Kemmer, Jess Majeres and Kyle Miller, all of whom totaled assists in the game. Saturday was a better day for the Ice Hawks as they rebounded with wins over Butte and Jackson Hole, Wyo. In the afternoon, the Ice hawks skated to a 4-1 win over the Butte Blues behind goals from Tyler Boyce, Mason Sheppard, Brad Hanson and Kemmer. Kemmer and Boyce also assisted on Sheppard's goal, while Roe and Sheppard assisted on Boyce's goal, Miller assisted on Kemmer's goal and Armstrong got an assist on the goal by Hanson. Later Saturday night, the Ice Hawks got a brilliant 31 saves form Zentmire in a 3-1 win over the Jackson Hole Beavers. The win vaulted Havre into the championship game. Against Jackson Hole, Boyce found the net twice, both on assists form Sheppard, and Jarrett McLain scored on an assist from Armstrong. And in the championship tilt on Sunday afternoon, the Ice Hawks avenged their only loss, beating Idaho Falls 4-2. McLain, Boyce, Roe and Kemmer all had goals in the win for the Ice Hawks, and Roe and Sheppard added assists, as did Andrew Linquist and Paul Turner. Boyce scored an unassisted goal. Zentmire was strong between the pipes for the Ice Hawks, stopping 17 Idaho Falls shots. With the team title in hand, their second straight tournament championship, Havre will return to the Havre Ice Dome for games against Miles City this weekend. The action gets under way on Saturday night at 8:15 p.m.
