Betty Roush, 69 and of Havre, Mont., died Jan. 10, 2008, in Billings, Mont. Following a long struggle with cancer.
Cremation has taken place and her memorial service commemorating her life will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008 with Pastor Michael Dahle officiating. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately following the service. Memorials in Betty’s honor may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church. Betty was born April 4, 1938 in Fort Benton, Mont. To Bain and Margaret (Lembke) Feltman. She was raised and educated in Fort Benton and graduated with honors from Fort Benton High School in 1956. After receiving a two-year provisional teaching certificate from Northern Montana College in 1960, she moved to Libby to teach third grade. Betty married Allan Roush on June 9, 1961 in Fort Benton. They moved to Malta where Betty taught first grade and Allan taught Industrial Arts in the Malta High School. Betty continued to work toward her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, graduating in 1966 from Montana State University-Northern in Havre. The couple then moved to Greely, Colorado, where Betty earned a Masters of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Allan a Masters of Art Degree in Industrial Arts from the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley. In 1966 Betty and Allan returned to Havre. Betty taught grades K-3 and Allan taught Industrial Arts at Montana State University-Northern. They reared two children, Julie and Brian. Betty retired from Havre Public Schools in June of 2000, after a career spanning 39 years. Betty was active for many years in choir, 4-H, sewing, gardening, caring for her grandchildren as well as several other children. She loved to dance and was a ballroom dance instructor for several years. Her passion was music and she sang solos for many years. She loved the Lord and was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church. The most important people in Betty’s life were her family and friends. She would do anything for them. She was happiest serving others and did so with a smile. Betty was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Allan of 47 years of Havre, Mont.; daughter, Julie Sedahl (Chad) of Havre, Mont.; son, Brian (Cori) Roush of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Jeanne Thomas (Terry) of Salt Lake, Utah; Mary Jo Graham (Cecil) Lake, of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Paige and Jake Sedahl of Havre, Mont. And Eric and Katelyn Roush of Las Vegas, Nev.
