IRMA JEAN LARSON obituary

Irma Jean Larson, 83, longtime resident of Havre, died Monday, March 10, 2008, of natural causes in Federal Way, Wash.

She passed away peacefully with her family at her side. Irma Jean Larson was born in Malta on April 12, 1924, to Levi and Jeanette (Porter) Shelton. Irma Jean attended a country school in Rudolph Valley, south of Malta, where her mother was her teacher, until second grade. In 1931, she moved with her parents to a farm in the Dodson area. Irma Jean graduated from Dodson High School in 1942. She completed her education in accounting at Billings Business College. She pursued a career in accounting for 50 years and retired in 1994. Irma Jean was an excellent bookkeeper and her attention to detail was unsurpassed. During her career, she saw many changes from manual accounting to the computer. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Havre. Her hobby was crocheting doll clothes to give away. Irma Jean spent most of her lifetime in Montana, however, in 2004, due to health reasons, she moved to Federal Way to be close to her son Lowell and family. Irma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Levi Jr.; her sister, Betty Mae Pattee, and her dear friend Grover Dowen. She is survived by her son Lowell E. Larson and daughterin- law Anita (Hamblock) Larson of Federal Way; three grandsons, Nathan, Preston and Dustin; and four great-granddaughters. Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn, Wash. A reception celebrating her life will follow at 1 p.m. at the Foundation House in Federal Way.
