Oregon Democrats will hear from candidates' surrogates

SALEM, Ore.

When Montana Democrats gathered from their annual dinner last weekend in Butte, they were t re a t e d to back-to-back speeches by presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. But Oregon Democrats will have to settle for surrogates this weekend at their p l a t form conve n t i o n i n Eugene. Hawai i Congre s sman Neil Abercrombie is a friend of Obama's parents, and will speak on behalf of the Illinois senator Friday night. Former f i r s t d a u g h t e r C h e l s e a Clinton will speak on her mother's behalf Saturday. D e m o c r a t i c P a r t y spokesman Marc Siegel says Obama and Clinton have been maintaining "crazy" schedules and that he's pleased both camps are able to send surrogates to Eugene. (AP)
