Louis Dotson Overcast
Louis Dotson Overcast was born on Feb. 28, 1936, at home in Zurich to Bill and Jesse Overcast. He was the 15th of his dad’s 16 children. Louis lived life to the fullest. He loved to laugh and had a wonderful smile. Louis spent some of his happiest moments at Clydehurst Christian Ranch working, volunteering and fixing things. He loved so many things, like fly fishing on the Boulder River, photography, getting great bargains at garage sales and teaching physics. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. Louis graduated from Havre High School in 1955. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in math education from Northern Montana College in 1961 and a Master of Science in general science from the University of Wyoming in 1966. He taught high school and college math, physics and science in Havre, Ranchester, Wyo., Malta, Red Lodge, Sidney, Taichung, Taiwan, Billings and Lynchburg, Va. From 1997 to 2002 his family traveled to Morelia, Mexico where they did volunteer work and taught English as a second language at the NOE Center. He also recently taught parttime at MSU n Billings Science Center and the College of Technology Academic Support Center. By faith, Louis received Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord while in junior high school. On Nov. 20, 1960 he married Sharon Bishop of Opheim, and they have four children Brian of Morelia, Mexico, his wife Mireya and daughters Kristina and Keila; Susan of Portland, Ore.; Allan of Billings, his wife Angela, daughter Annemarie and son Anthony; John of Kalispell, and his wife Rose. He is also survived by sisters Ruby Schleuning and Ruth Schoerman of Rapid City, S.D., Helen Schoonen of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Olive Besack of Whittier, Calif. And Carol Higgins of Helena, and brother, Lee Overcast of Sheridan. He was an active member of the Faith Evangelical Church in Billings. A memorial service will be held at Faith Evangelical Church located at 3145 Sweet Water Drive in Billings on Friday, April 18, 2008, at 10 a.m. Reception to follow.
