North Stars return to the road Saturday

With almost a week of rest after a brutal two-week stretch of games that included tournaments in Havre and Bozeman, the Havre North Stars will be back on the road this weekend. On Saturday, Havre (12-11) will be in Medicine Hat for a pair of important conference games against the Medicine Hat Monarchs. The doubleheader will mark the eighth and ninth straight road games the North Stars have played in the last two weeks. But Havre's pitching staff should be rested considering the North Stars haven't played since Sunday when they lost to the Glendive Blue Devils in the final game of the Gallatin Valley tournament in Bozeman. Entering Saturday's games, Havre has certainly experienced its ups and downs. The North Stars have excelled in nonconference games the last two weeks against the likes of Gallatin Valley, which they beat twice, as well as Sidney and others. However, in its last conference doubleheader, the North Stars were thumped by Lethbridge in a two-game set in Lethbridge on June 18. Havre's pitching, which has been very consistent this season, struggled a little against the Miners, and the North Stars will be looking for their starters to have better outings on this trip north of the border. Saturday's doubleheader in Medicine Hat will get under way at 1 p.m., and the North Stars and Monarchs will play two seveninning games.
