Herbert R. Pasha Jr., 82, of 256 Alder Street in Highwood, died Thursday at Peace Hospice of natural causes.
Memorial services will be Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Croxford Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home. Herbert was born to H.R. and Lorene Pasha on June 2, 1926, in Bozeman. He was raised and educated in Bozeman, and upon graduation Herb hitchhiked to Butte to enlist in the Navy for WW II. He became a radio corps man serving on the island of New Caladonia in the South Pacific. Upon returning from the war he attended Montana State University in Bozeman, joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, received a degree in fish biology and met his sweetheart Lila Swan. They were married June 26, 1949, in Great Falls. Together they moved to Highwood to farm and ranch in 1951. They then formed a partnership with Lila’s brother Miles Swan and his wife Doris and have made Highwood their home since. They raised their three children and Herb was involved with many local organizations including the Sewer Board, Rifle Club, Commercial Club, School Clerk, School Board, and Soil Conservation Service Board. In later years, he served on several boards including Cascade Mutual Insurance and Sun River Electric. He was a member of the Benton Masonic Lodge #42, and Faith Community Church. He enjoyed wood working and gardening, but especially enjoyed traveling and visiting his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 59 years; one son and daughterin- law, Robert and Ann Pasha of Highwood; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Tom Albers of Miles City and Leslie and Don Hanson of Kremlin. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Erin and Sam Weisgerber of Helena, Jeffers and Andrea Pasha of Highwood, Michael Albers of Aurora, Colo., Kara Albers of Billings, Eric and Genevieve Hanson of Helena, Dr. Marisa Hanson of Roseburg, Ore., Whitney Hanson of Bozeman and Tyler Pasha of Helena attending Carroll College; and two greatgranddaughters, Maddison Weisgerber and Cambrie Pasha. Memorials in Herb’s name are suggested to Peace Hospice of Great Falls, the Highwood Scholarship Fund, the American Cancer Society, or to the donor’s choice.
