Marlene Pizzini For the Havre Daily News gferguson@havredailynews.com
"Many senior bowlers, including some of the pro seniors, are in the prime of their bowling lives. It just takes them a little longer to get primed!" The Havre Youth starting date has been tentatively set for Sunday, Oct 19. Flyers should be handed out the week of Oct. 13 with further details. The starting date of Oct. 19 will also be the sign-up before leagues start. Questions should be directed to Chris at 265-5885 or call the lanes at 265-5885. Registration and bowling fees have been kept the same for this season. I heard from Shawn Copeland in July. He has purchased a bowling center in the town of Molalla, Oregon. It's a 16-lane center with a bar and cafe and he took over the first of August. He is an avid fan of Keglers Korner and likes to read about your scores. If you're out there Shawn give me a sign. Are you a college kegler? Starting Monday you can bowl from 8:30 P.M.-12 P. M. for $12. For further details contact the lanes at 265-5885. Pam Boucher has a birthday Saturday. Susie Friede and Linda Duran gain another year on Tuesday. The birthdays, like this article, have gotten off to a late start. For those of you in September and of course over the summer, I hope you had good ones. If you do not wish your birthday here just let me know. Ann McKnight, Linda Warneke, and Marla Boyce picked 5-7s; Gen Austin and Ruth Vukasin 5-10s;and Chuck Wimmer a 2-7-8; Christy Holden had the highs of 223 and 556. Kristi Kline shot a 213; Michale Beck a 507 and 529; and Ruth Vukasin a 531. It's three in a row for Kelly Olson. Games of 246, 234 and 224 gave Kelly a 704 Sunday night. The young man hit games of 246, 255, 214 for a 715 Monday night. Kelly finished his four-game series with a 298 for a 1,013. The 4 and 7 pins were the only things standing in the way of a 300 for Kelly. Olson's 1,013 in only the second four-game series of 1000 I know of bowled at Hi-Line Lanes. Seth Ingram had a 1,017 in the 2003-04 season. Great bowling "kid"! Jeff Lynnes shot a 245 and 623; Roy Hamilton a 246, 608 and 609; Ken Riska a 257 and 610; Russ Boucher a 250 and 658; JT Davis a 245; Kyle Surber a 246 and 620; Arnie Shulund a 275 and 668. The following were "6" shooters: Brian Moore 604; Bill Kimberling 635; Randy Randolph 602; Don Jones 613; Mike Sherrill 630; Dave Wolf 685; Shawn Mariani 641; Randy 610; Andy Owens 228, 621; and Ang Pizzini 615. You guessed it, Olson's 1,013 was the high four-game. Jeff Lynnes had a 793; Roy Hamilton 791; Ken Riska 816; Kyle Surber 834; Mike Sherrill 789; Mike Hamilton 786; and Russ Boucher 850. I think you all know by now our bowling membership is once again down. The next couple weeks I will be watching scores and will probably lower the men's scores from a 560 to a 550. I feel this would help to get a wider range of men in the news.
