ELMER SANGREY obituary

Elmer Sangrey, 81, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 8, 2008, at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre from heart complications.

Funeral service for Elmer will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Box Elder with the Rev. Pete Guthneck presiding. Burial will immediately follow at the Highland Cemetery in Havre. A rosary will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday evening at the church in Box Elder. Elmer was born Feb. 2, 1927, to John and Mary (Courchane) Sangrey in Rocky Boy. He began serving his country in the Army on May 12, 1945, in World War II and was honorably discharged. Elmer married Ruby Benson in Havre Aug. 12, 1944. They lived in Rocky Boy and later in Fort Belknap. To this union came forth one daughter, Edith Ann. He was retired from the road and water department of the Fort Belknap agency, where he worked as a foreman. Elmer was very devoted to his family. He loved what his native lands had to offer, camping, fishing, horse racing, hunting and traveling, and he loved animals. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Ruby (Benson) Sangrey; his parents; and two infant sisters. Elmer is survived by his special companion of many years Ramona Favel of Box Elder; his daughter Edith Ann Sangrey LePine of Big Sandy; his four sisters, Karilee Olsen of Lima, Rita Odland of Minnesota, and Clara Boster and Bernice Toney both, of Townsend; his aunt, Minnie Sangrey of Rocky Boy; his halfsister, Lillian Corcoran of Rocky Boy; his grandson, Shawn LePine of Havre; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
