A familiar face in the Havre golf seen will be joining the Montana State University-Northern women's golf team. MSU-N head coach Dave Boles recently announced the signing of two new golfers, including former Havre High School standout Stacey Sheppard. Sheppard, a 2008 HHS graduate, was appeared in the Class A state tournament all four years of her high school career. She was also part of one of the most successful runs in HHS girl's in recent memory, helping the Blue Ponies to several Central A titles. Sheppard earned HHS golfer of the year in 2007, and she has received numerous academic honors, including National Honor Society and Academic All-State in golf, basketball and softball. Sheppard also played basketball at HHS. Boles said: "Stacey should add immediate balance and quality scoring for the Skylights." Sheppard, the daughter of Doug and Paula Sheppard, will be eligible to golf for the Skylights during the 2009 spring season. Boles has also signed Katie Ross, currently a senior at Foster High School in Tukwila, Wash. Ross, a senior at Foster High, just finished second in the Seamount League Championships with a two-day total of 165 and also carded a hole-inone in competition. It was her second career hole-in-one. Ross lettered in golf all four years of high school and supports a 3.83 gpa. Katie is interested in studying biology and english at MSU-N. Katie is the daughter of Jon and Vicki Ross. MSU-N Wrestling MSU-N head wrestling coach Tyson Thivierge has also announced a new recruit recently. Thi v ierge has signed Arizona prep standout Max Payne to an NAIA letter of intent. Payne, a senior at Prescott High School in Prescott, Ariz., captured the 152-pound state championship as a junior, and is about to begin his senior year of wrestling where he will either compete at 160 or 171 pounds. Payne is expected to compete at 157 or 165 pounds for the Lights. Payne's father, Dan Payne, is a former coach at Emory-Riddle University, a powerhouse in NAIA wrestling. "He’s a very talented and extremely strong wrestler," Thivierge said of Payne. "I truly believe Max is a huge addition to our roster and will help take us to the next level."
