'Oil Pattern' Challenge on tap Saturday in Havre

Remember when Some tournaments specialized in presenting winners with live turkeys or live piglets? We wish you all a happy Turkey Day Hi-Line Lanes will be open at 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Open bowling will be a good way to work off your turkey dinner, or build up your appetite for your dinner. This Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m., the lanes will be holding their "oil pattern" challenge. Entry fee is $40 and there is a limit of 48 bowlers. Entrants will bowl six games across twelve lanes, each set with a different oil pattern. After the first six, the field will be cut to twelve and a position round will be bowled. The top five will then bowl a TV style stepladder final. Hi-Line Lanes is taking reservations for their New Year's Eve Jackpot. The cost is $15 per person or $90 per lane. Monday-Thursday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. you can enjoy three lines of open bowling for $5 plus shoes. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. three lines cost $6 plus shoes. Jackpot bowling is held Saturday nights at 8 p.m. Call 265-5885 for more information or reservations on any of the above. There will be no PeeWee or Youth bowling this Sunday. Pee Wee 6-year-olds: Max Olson bumped a 78 with one spare and Jaden Wierzbicki bumped a 97 with three spares. Seven-year-olds: Tayler Marinkovich had an 87 with a spare; Taylor Parsons had three spares and one strike for a 112; and Kade Turner had an 87 with one spare. Five year old Eli Cloninger bumped out two spares for a 94. Bantam highs were: Caleb Allestad 81 and a 148; Dylan Newbury 80 and 151; Tyrel Kjersem 78 and 146; Kimberlee Irvin 81 and 147; Madison Shennum 72, 68, and 140; and Paige Nelson a 107 series. Shania Carlson threw a 109, 95 and a 298 in the Preps. Amy McMullen had a 95, 212 and Jacey McDonald a 218 ser. Brock Morkrid scored a 138, 315; Dane Rowlatt 115, 323; and Tucker Carlson a 110, 302. Aitana Moore had the high game of 116 with her 274. Savannah Rudio had the series of 277 with games of 99 and 96 on the Junior/Majors. Katie Beck hit a 265. Roman Surber shot games of 214, 201, and 192 for a 607. Ryne Antley had a 405 and Matt Olson a 378. Brian Moore and Tiffany Kimberling have birthdays next Tuesday. Congrats to Mindy Haas for accomplishing a difficult feat, a triplicate of 92. Steph Mariani picked a 5-10; Josh Gregori and Bob Vukasin 4-7-10s; Chuck Wimmer 6-7-10; Jackie Mayer 2-7-8; Barb Miller 2-7; and Ann McKnight 4-10. Tera Verploegen had the high game of 212 and Christy Holden the series of 545 with a 211.
