Brian H. Allen of Havre, 35, is being held in the Hill County Detention Center on $500,000 bond on four felony charges of assault with a weapon, a felony charge of criminal endangerment and a felony charge of intimidation. Monday Allen pleaded not guilty to the charges, which were filed Feb. 26 and amended last Friday to include the charge of intimidation. An omnibus hearing, where trial dates and other hearings are generally scheduled, is set for April 7. A hearing on a motion for a reduction of bond is scheduled for Wednesday. According to a court document, on Feb. 4 officers were told by a woman that on Jan. 27 Allen had beaten a man with a pistol, threatened to kill the man and pointed the pistol at her and threatened to kill her. The woman said Allen called her and asked to be picked up from a local tavern and given a ride, the document said. He told her he needed to get some money a man owed him, she told the officers. Once the car arrived, the man, who Allen had called on the telephone, came out and got into the back of the car and Allen then locked the doors, the document said the woman told officers. The woman said Allen then repeatedly hit the man with a pistol, which she said went off at one point, and said he wanted to kill the man. The witness said she eventually persuaded Allen to let the man out of the car and he went back to his residence, the document said. The woman also said Allen held the gun to her head at one point and said he would kill her if she spoke about the incident, the document said. Later, Allen told her to wipe up blood from The seat in the back of her car, the woman said. The next day he directed her to report the broken window in the back of her car as a result of vandalism, she said, which she did. She told the officers she lied about the incident because she was scared Allen would kill her, the document said. The woman said Allen had called her about 15 times after the incident asking if she had spoken to police or if she had heard anyone talking about the incident, threatening to harm her if she talked, the document said. On Feb. 6, the man the woman said had been beaten and threatened talked to police officers and also said that the incident had occurred, the document said. He told officers that he thought he had been hit 15 or 20 times, and had to go to the hospital for treatment. He said that he owed Allen $250 for a tattoo gun. The man said that on another occasion in late December or early January Allen had cut his hand when he had shaken or grabbed it while holding an open pocket knife, the document said, and that he thought Allen had cut him intentionally.
