Eric James Jones of Havre, 24, was charged Monday with the deliberate homicide of Kimberly Calf Boss Ribs Saturday north of Havre. Jones is being held in the Hill County Detention Center on $500,000 bond for the homicide charge. He is also being held on $2,170 bond for charges of violating a protective order and resisting arrest. If convicted of the homicide charge, he could be sentenced to life in prison or 10 to 100 years in prison. According to the court document, Havre emergency medical technicians and Hill County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at about 11 p. m. Saturday from a location on River Road North reporting a woman, was lying on the floor of a shop (who had been beaten up.) The caller reported that the woman might not have been breathing. Emergency medical technicians, who arrived at the scene first, told deputies when they arrived that the woman was dead. A witness later told investigating officers that Jones and the victim, Calf Boss Ribs, had dated at one time. A deputy entered the scene and observed a woman lying face down on the concrete floor in a large pool of what appeared to be blood, the document said. She was missing her shoes and shirt, and appeared to have severe trauma around the head. The deputy also observed a metal object which had a red stain that appeared to be blood and was sitting in what appeared to be a pool of blood, the document said. A Burlington Northern Santa Fe employee at about 11:15 p.m. reported to the Havre Police Department that a man in a white van was tresPassing on railroad property near the scene of the incident, the document said. When approached by the BNSF employees, the man fled and they were unable to follow him. Police determined that the white van was registered to Eric James Jones of Harlem, the document said. At about 3 a.m. Sunday, Havre police officers located Jones at an east Havre residence, the document said. Jones resisted the officers, who arrested him on charges of violating a protective order and resisting arrest and transported him to the detention center, the document said. Officers seized a pile of clothing, shoes and a cell phone near the bed where they found Jones, the document said. They noticed the clothing, shoes and bed appeared to have blood on them. A Montana Department of Criminal Investigation agent saw a shoe print in the blood next to the victim’s body that appeared to match the shoes seized where Jones was arrested, the document said. The evidence and the body of the victim will be forwarded to the state crime lab for further analysis, the document said.
