Parents charged in daughter's shooting death

GREAT FALLS

The parents of an 11-year-old girl who was fatally shot on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation have been charged in her death. Kyle Brockie, 24, was charged in tribal court Friday with negligent homicide and firing the weapon in the April 6 death of his stepdaughter, Alemeda “Ali” Four Souls, aka Alemeda Geboe Brockie. Anastasia Geboe, the girl's 25-year-old mother, was charged with manslaughter. "They haven't given us a statement, so we don't know exactly what happened," said criminal investigations supervisor Robert Ironmaker. He said the parents were arrested immediately after the shooting on tribal charges of criminal endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. The girl was shot in the chest as she was sleeping in her house in Hays and died hours later at a Great Falls hospital, officials said. Tribal police and FBI agents continue to investigate the shooting. Federal charges could be filed, officials said. Hill County Sheriff Greg Szudera could not confirm whether Brockie and Geboe were being held in the Hill County Jail at the time of publication. (AP)
