Arnold E. "Red" Sorenson, 94, of Kremlin died of natural causes May 13, 2008, at Northern Montana Care Center.
Red was born Sept 26, 1913, to Carl and Anna (Erlandson) Sorenson in Havre. Red was the oldest of three children. Red lived and worked on the farm his parents had homesteaded south of Kremlin. Red married his wife Janet Petrie Jan. 19, 1935. They made their home south of Kremlin. Red farmed most of his life, he continued to farm into his late 80's. He had also worked on the railroad section crews for a time and at the Air Force base in Great Falls. Red served on the Kremlin School board. During his life Red's hobbies included flying. He and his wife were members of the Montana Flying Farmers and enjoyed many traveling trips in their plane. He also enjoyed fishing and his dogs. In the 1960's Red and Janet purchased property in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., where they began to spend their winters away from the cold of Montana. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Anna Sorenson, his wife, Janet, and his sister, Hazel Sorenson. He is survived by his brother, Harry (Margaret) Sorenson of Calistoga, Calif.; his children, son, Arnie (Cindy) Sorenson of Kremlin; daughters, Sonya Sorenson of Bremerton, Wash., and Sandra Sorenson of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Burial will be held at a later date in the Highland Cemetery. At the request of Red no funeral will be held. Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook is in charge of arrangements.
