Bill J. Norden, 47, of Gibbon died Friday, May 9, 2008, in North Platte.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at the O’Brien- Straatmann Funeral Home in Kearney with Rev. Mike Shields officiating. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the family, to be designated later. He was born July 8, 1960, in Havre to John and Pearl (McIntyre) Norden. He grew up in Havre and the surrounding area and received his education there. On February 17, 1979, he married Joan Mallo in Havre. They later divorced. On October 4, 1997, he married Connie (Gruber) Miller in Hastings. She died on January 7, 2003. On December 31, 2007, he married Linda (Garrison) Richter in Kearney. They lived in Gibbon. He was employed by Brown Transfer. He had lived in Vacaville, Calif., Boise, Idaho, Morgan City, La., Calais, Maine, Hastings, Neb. And Fairfield, Neb. He had worked for Firestone for over 20 years and also for Eaton Corporation, and Picks Pack Haulers. His hobbies included golf, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. He loved drag racing and raced at Kearney Raceway Park. He won the 1997 ET Finals in Scribner. Survivors include his wife, Linda of Gibbon; son, Billy Norden and wife Ashley of Gibbon; daughters, Erica Maughan and husband C.J. of Hastings and Melisa Amato and husband Dominic of Havre; stepson, Daniel Richter and wife Kaci of Lincoln; stepdaughter, Megan Richter of Kearney; sisters, Deborah Lancaster of Hastings and Beverly Norden-Halter of Rudyard; and grandchildren, Rhiannon, Paige, Caleb Maughan, Dominic Amato and Carson Richter. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Connie Norden; brothers, Daryl and Warren Norden; stepmother, Gladys Norden; niece, Linda Ann Norden; and nephew, Stanley Norden.
