JOHN ROBERT VAUGHN JR. Obituary

John Robert Vaughn Jr., 51, died Wednesday May 28, 2008, at the Northern Montana Hospital after a long-term illness.

His Memorial Service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the St. Jude Parish Center immediately after the service. Memorial contributions in John’s honor may be made to St. Jude Catholic Church. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. John was born June 9, 1956, in Breckenridge, Minn., to John R. and Hazel Elizabeth (Worner) Vaughn. He was raised and educated in Breckenridge and graduated high school. He moved to Havre March 5, 1976, and worked numerous jobs for the first few months he was in Havre. He then hired on with the Burlington Northern Railroad where he worked as a train engineer. He worked on the railroad until his illness forced him to retire in 2005. John loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed gardening and to be around his family and friends. He also enjoyed swimming and skiing. John was a friend to anyone; if ever anyone needed something John was always there. He would never turn anyone down. He was a member of the railroad pagers. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hazel; sisters, Jackie and Gloria. He is survived by his daughters, Terra Kohl Olson of Ottertail, Minn., and Erin Rae Vaughn of Havre; stepdaughter, Heather Weston of Havre; sons, Derek Cole (Amanda) Vaughn and John Robert Vaughn III, both of Dickinson, N.D.; his beloved soul mate, Margaret Schindler, of Havre; sisters, Penelope Marie (Mark) Gylland of Abercombie, N.D., and Kathrine Rae (Darvel) Vickers of Havre; brothers, Craig Lynn (Shari) Vaughn of Fergus Falls, Minn., and Douglas Merk Vaughn of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; grandchildren, Aliyah Reid, Raelee Myers, Neveah Pourier, Kyla Pourier, Chase and Cole Olson and Olson Baby Boy.
