RICHARD SCHMOCKEL obituary

Richard Schmockel, 76, died June 30, 2008, at the Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.

A viewing was held at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home today from 10 a.m. to 4 p. m. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Pastor Charlie Moody officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Richard’s honor may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Richard was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Zurich to William and Martha (Holsten) Schmockel. He was raised and educated in Zurich. He farmed with his dad and local area farmers. He started working for the Great Northern Railroad in 1950 and worked as a carman. He retired in 1993 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe after working for the railroad for 43 years. He was a member of the Eagles and the railroad union. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives, Theresa Small Schmockel and Olive Schmockel; five brothers and three sisters. Richard is survived by his daughters, Marcella (Scott) Knaub of Lodge Grass, Cynthia Schmockel and Sharon (Joe Bell) Schmockel, both of Havre; his son, Bill Schmockel of Havre; his long time companion, Linda Azure of Havre; two sisters, Betty Head of Havre and Myrtle Roberts of Rathdrum, Idaho; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
