Michael Patrick Callahan, 25, died Aug. 11, 2008, in Reno.
Services were held for Michael at Commons Beach in Tahoe City, Calif., on Aug. 13 at 11 a.m and will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dickinson, N.D., on Saturday, Aug. 16 at 11 a.m. with lunch following in the fellowship hall. Michael was born in Havre, Mont. On March 30, 1983. He grew up in Dickinson, N.D. Michael played baseball, golf and especially hockey at Dickinson High School, graduating in 2002. Michael attended college at the University of North Dakota for one year and later moved to Reno, where he worked and enjoyed to the fullest the natural beauty and recreational opportunities of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Mountains. Michael was a wonderful son who brought joy, surprise and passion to our lives. Michael’s brothers were his best friends, but he treated all his friends like brothers and he had many. In March of 2007, Michael fell in love with Rachel Robison of Reno and knew that she was the one. Before his death Michael was working hard and saving to fulfill his dream of attending helicopter flight school. Michael leaves behind his parents, Joe and Kim; his brothers, Joey and Ryan; and his aunts, uncles and cousins across the country. Memorial donations may be made to the MSU-Northern Foundation for a scholarship in Michael’s name.
