John J. Trinity, 83 , died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at the Northern Montana Care Center.
Viewing will be held at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home today from 1 to 4 p.m. His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church immediately after the graveside service. Memorial contributions in John’s honor may be made to the Northern Montana Care Center or to a memorial of one’s choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. John was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Philadelphia, Penn., to John J. and Mary H. (Reardon) Trinity. He was raised in the Philadelphia area and attended the LaSalle Academy. He entered the United States Navy in November 1943 and served as a Pharmacist Mate Second Class. He was honorably discharged in June 1946. He then attended mortuary school and worked at the funeral homes in Livingston and Miles City. For a few years he worked as a pharmaceutical salesman before attending Northern Montana College and then Montana State University where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in nursing. His area of expertise was psychiatric nursing. He found his nursing career enjoyable and his patients respected him. John married Martha Lake on March 28, 1979, in Havre. The couple lived in Havre. During his life John was active in several organizations including Knights of Columbus, Toastmasters, Elks, St. Jude Catholic Church and the Montana Nursing Association. He enjoyed fishing anywhere there was water and fish that could be caught. He also enjoyed skiing, reading and traveling. He was a very intelligent person who had a wonderful, dry sense of humor. John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sister Mary T. Trinity and a daughter, Annette Trinity-Stevens of Bozeman. John is survived by his wife of 29 years, Martha Trinity of Havre; his daughters, Brigit (Steven) Larson of Des Moines, Wash., Rebecca Kerner of Rock Island, Ill., Gretchen Webster of Missoula, Suzanne (John) Crissey of Kent, Wash., and Rachel (Robert) Krug of Helena; his son, J. Richard (Lois) Trinity of Red Oak, Iowa; son-inlaw, David Stevens of Bozeman; sisters, Sister Eileen B. Trinity of Philadelphia, Penn., and Honor M. Mitzak of South Orange, N.J.; brother, Joseph Trinity of Maplewood, N.J.; 20 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.
