Olga A. Berg, 101, died Monday evening, Sept. 8, 2008, at the Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.
Viewing will be held at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Her graveside service will be at 11 a. m. Friday at the Highland Cemetery in Havre with Pastor Michael O’Hearn officiating. Burial will follow. Memorials in Olga’s honor may be made to a memorial of one’s choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Olga was born Aug. 1, 1907, in Dawson, Minn., to Johannes and Sara Logeland. She was raised and educated in Dawson. She married Walter N. Berg in January of 1932 in Montevideo, Minn. The couple moved to Montana in 1938 and settled in Havre in 1947. Olga raised her children and later went to work for F.W. Woolworth in Havre. Walter died in 1962 and then Olga went to work for the Lutheran Home of The Good Shepherd in Havre until 1975. Olga was the ultimate grandmother who loved to bake. Her specialty was Lefsa and she always had fresh homemade cookies. Olga was also a great cook and enjoyed reading and gardening. She had beautiful flowers all summer long. Olga was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Eagles Auxiliary. Her most precious times were spent with her family her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter, in 1962; a daughter, Donna Jean, in 1959; a granddaughter, Syrie Stremcha, in 1970; a grandson, Scott Berg, in 1992; her son-in-law, Jim Stremcha, in 1983; a sister, Emma Holmquist; three brothers, Sam, Joe and Omar Logeland; and two nieces. Olga is survived by her three children, Robert (Deanna) Berg, James (Mary) Berg and Dorothy Stremcha all of Havre; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, Gary (Tammie) Berg and daughters, Jaylee and Brandi, of Havre; Robert (Cindy) Berg and daughter, Emily, of Great Falls; Cindy (Mike) Sauer and son, Michael, of Havre; Chad Berg, of Deer Lodge and children, Kayla and Johnny, of Havre; Eric (Shelley) Stremcha and children, Kyla and Jayde, of Gillette, Wyo; and Andrea (Sam) Evans and daughter, Adysson, of Gillette, Wyo.
