Frances Melby Halter of Kremlin, Mont., Havre, Mont., and Auburn passed away from complications of pnemonia on Sept. 2, 2008, in Auburn, where she had resided for 40 years.
Services were held on Sept. 13, 2008, at 4 p.m. Arrangements are through Price-Helton Funeral Home in Auburn. Frances grew up in Kremlin, graduated high school and worked at and met her husband Douglas at the Morris Cafe which his parents owned in Havre. They left Montana, went to Alaska to become missionaries and ran an orphanage too. After the birth of a daughter, Dolonda, and son Charles, they left and ended up in Wyoming where another daughter, Darla, was born. Eventually they ended up in Auburn, where they settled down. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Douglas, in June 2007. She is survived by her children, Dolonda Raynor of Auburn, Charles (Kim) Halter of Bonney Lake, and Darla Pomber, Federal Way; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
