WILLIAM “BILL” L. CHAMBERS obituary

William “Bill” L. Chambers, 74, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and his memorial service will be 2 p. m. Saturday at the Immanuel Baptist Church with Pastor David Herndon officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service. William was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Phillip, S.D., to Roy and Olive (Koon) Chambers. He was raised and educated in South Dakota, graduating from Rapid City High School in 1952. He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for three years, and the United States Air Force for 17 years, retiring in 1972 in Great Falls. He married Martha Fraser on Dec. 20, 1956, in Conway, Ark. Bill worked in the bio-med department of the Columbus Hospital for twelve years. He later moved to Arkansas where he worked at Hudson Foods as a computer programmer. Bill served actively in many southern Baptist churches during his Air Force travels. Bill enjoyed volunteering at Northern Montana Hospital and Care Center and shooting pool with his friends at the Senior Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Elenor Runnalls. Bill is survived by his wife, Martha of Havre; two sons, William R. (Alice) Chambers of Havre and Walter E. Chambers of Great Falls; one granddaughter, Kathleen Chambers; four grandsons, Ben Chambers, Ryan Chambers, David Chambers, Matthew Chambers; and one sister, Lois Allen of South Dakota. Memorials in Bill’s honor may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church, The Gift of Life Foundation. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
