Schweitzer still has no interest in cabinet

HELENA

Gov. Brian Schweitzer says he still has no interest in a cabinet position under President-elect Barack Obama. Some have speculated that Schweitzer would be considered for a post as interior secretary. But he reaffirmed his commitment Tuesday to remaining governor of Montana. The governor told The Associated Press: "I like being outside too much to be an interior secretary." Back in September, Schweitzer told the AP that he couldn't envision himself taking orders from someone else, and said he prefers running his own operation. The governor said cabinet secretaries have little autonomous authority anymore. The governor also said he enjoys living in Montana, splitting time between the official residence in Helena and a new house he built on Georgetown Lake. (AP)
