Frederick L. “Fred” O’Neil, age 79, a retired Rudyard-area farmer who served in the U.S. military, was a lifelong Mason, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and traveling, died of natural causes at the St. Vincent Hospital in Billings on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008.
His funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Rudyard. Burial will follow at the Rudyard Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel in Chester. Survivors are three sons, Leo O’Neil of Denver, David O’Neil of Malta and Ross O’Neil of Rudyard; two daughters, Tammie Gatzemeier of Hingham and Judy Campeau of Billings; one brother, Arnold O’Neil of Big Sandy; two sisters, Marianna Cornett of Great Falls and Cora Lee Welty of Big Sandy; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Fred was preceded in death by two wives, Mae Miller in 1993 and Julia Hansen in 2006, and a son, Warren.
