The Havre wrestling club was dominant at the 2009 Montana Open last month in Billings. The Havre team competed in the large team division of the tournament, which was held on March 28-29 in Billings and the team scored 64 points, good enough for second place overall. Butte captured the large team titles with 67 points while Bozeman was third. Individually, Havre wrestlers did well in every age category. In the 18 and under division, Havre got a fourth-place finish from Duell Stadel at 119 pounds, a fifth-place finish by Brett Normandy at 130 pounds and a sixth-place finish from Class A state champion Kent Pattison at 152 pounds. In the 15 and under division, Kameron Pribyl captured the 151-pound weight class, while Tyler Adams came in second at 172. Casey Schaub was fourth at 158 pounds, while Kristian Honadel finished sixth at 144 and Dillon Seely sixth at 137 pounds. In the 12 and under division, Dustin Odegard placed second at 146 pounds, while Grayson Brenna was fourth at 78 pounds and Dylan Stewart finished fourth at 66 pounds. Havre had a champion at 69 pounds in the 10 and under division as Keegan Kennelly finished first. Travis Adams also earned championship honors at 143 pounds. Dane Warp finished second at 113 pounds. Dane Flammond placed third at 81 pounds, while Jace Stokes and Tyler Schaub placed fifth and sixth at 89 pounds, respectively. Havre also had two champions in the eight and under category. Ryan Stewart placed first at 46 pounds and Quinn Witmus was first at 66 pounds. In the six and under division, Cache Hilliard was second at 55 pounds. The Montana Open featured teams from all across Montana. The tournament was open to age divisions six and under and up through high school wrestlers. Havre's second-place finish in the large team competition was stellar considering the Havre team was competing against clubs with 31 or more grapplers in the tournament, including almost all of the larger Montana cities.
