Lloyd R. Winkle (Winkels), 91, passed away Jan. 15, 2009, at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre after a long illness.
Lloyd recently moved to Havre with his wife, Velma (Bjerum) Winkle, a former Havre resident. Lloyd and Velma were married in 1990. Lloyd was a longtime Park County resident, retiring from Yellowstone National Park Services after 35 years of employment. Lloyd was born July 13, 1917, to Benjamin and Jenny (Johnson) Winkels at Belfield, N.D. He married Dorothy Reinhart of Klein, Mont., in 1948. To this union, three sons were born. Dorothy died in 1988. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Dorothy; infant son William, twin of Robert; and grandson Michael Winkle. Survivors include: wife Velma Winkle; sons Robert (Debbie) and Raymond (Darla) Winkle; daughters, Dianne (Gerald) Fowler, Joy (Dennis) Bebee, Shari Scoles and Kari (Glenn) Dawson; sister-in-law Lillian Grant and niece Cindy Ellingson; nine granddaughters; four grandsons; and 14 greatgrandchildren.
