Ice Hawks bounce back by sweeping Helena

Coming into this weekend's home fi- nale at the Havre Ice Dome, the Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team needed to feel what it was like to win again. Mission accomplished. The Ice Hawks skated to two convincing wins over the Helena Bighorns this weekend, and in the process, got back on track as the regular season winds down. On Friday night, the Ice Hawks took care of the Bighorns 5-3 in a game that saw Havre share the puck offensively. Mason Sheppard scored twice for the Ice Hawks, while Dillon McLain, Adam Briese and Beau Briese all found the net as well. Sheppard and McLain scored unassisted goals, while Cam Schilling added a pair of assists and Shane Kemmer had an assist as well. In goal, Will DeVries was busy, stopping 36 Helena shots. The two teams returned to the ice on Saturday morning, only to find nearly the same result. Again, Havre spread the puck around as six different players scored in a 6-2 victory. Kyle Miller and Jess Majeres scored in the first period, while Sheppard and McLain added goals in the second. The scoring was capped off in the third period by Adam Briese and Paul Turner. Kemmer had three assists on the day, while Adam Briese, Majeres, McLain and Sheppard also helped on goals. DeVries was rock solid in the pipes agian, stopping 23 shots on goal. Havre (7-9-2) will be back on the ice next weekend to close out the regular season with a pair of makeup games in Billings.
