Gary A. Lawson, 61, a maintenance painter at Montana- State-University-Northern, died of cancer March 2, 2009.
A vigil service will be at 7 p. m. Friday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the St. Jude Catholic Church in Havre. Graveside committal services will be in Browning Monday, March 9, at 2 p.m. in the Willow Creek Cemetery. Gary was born in Conrad, Mont., on March 24, 1947, to Allan and Geraldine (Gaines) Lawson, who preceded him in death. His two sisters, Carol Dasher and Bonnie Rae Clark, also preceded him in death. Gary is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ginny (Farmer) Lawson; sons Allan, Gary Jr., of Browning, and Tony of Havre; three granddaughters, Kylie of Billings, Emerson of Whitefish and Jayde of Havre; two brothers of Glasgow, Chuck (Barbara Pruys) Lawson and Craig (Julie Boucher) Lawson. Gary served in Vietnam two years, 1967 and 1968, and was honorably discharged and moved to Glasgow. He worked for Moorehouse painting, and later K. Decorators of Billings. January 13, 1970, he married Ginny Lee Farmer of Browning. In 1971 they moved to a former military base 20 miles north of Glasgow. Gary worked for Mountain Plains and Valley Industrial Park. In 1982 he went to work for Northern Montana College, where he was still employed the time of his death. Gary had a great love for his family and co-workers. He loved fly fishing the streams on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation as well as the beautiful mountains. He went home to be with the Lord, his great love, and will be missed beyond words.
