David Milan Malnar, age 68, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on March 11, 2009, at West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, of heart complications.
Dave was born April 28, 1940, to Michael Milan Malnar and Evelyn Marguerite (Lindquist) Malnar in Chatham, Mich., where he grew up with three brothers and four sisters. From 1957 to 1961 Dave served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed mainly in Miles City, Mont. While there he met the love of his life, Maryann Allen. They were married on December 18, 1959. After being discharged from the Air Force, Dave worked the oil fields for a short period of time after which he returned to Miles City where he worked for Valley Motor Supply for nine years and subsequently went to work for the Milwaukee Railroad and continued working for various railroad lines in Michigan and Montana, eventually going to work for Burlington Northern Railroad in Havre, Mont., for 14 years, retiring in April 2004. Along the way, Dave made many friends, In April 2004 Dave and Maryann moved to Middleton, Idaho, to be near their son, Brian, and his family. Dave is survived by his wife of 49 years, Maryann; son Brian (Tami) of Boise, Idaho; son Michael of Great Falls, Mont.; and grandchildren, Austin and Mikaela, who he so, so enjoyed spending time and doing things with. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Judy) Malnar; sisters, Mickey Doty, Donna (Kent) Verhougstraete, Melanie (Earl) Bontrager, Janine (Greg) Beauchemin; and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clifford and Dean; son, Dana Lynn; and daughter, Tina Marie. A memorial service to celebrate the life of David Malnar will be 11 a.m. March 23, 2009, at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise.
