Dorothy Evelyn Vaughn Kainz, 78, passed away quietly on Sunday, April 12, 2009, at Valley Nursing Home.
She was born on Feb. 19, 1931, in Havre, Mont., the daughter of Charles G. and Hazel Fowler Vaughn. She was married to Earl L. Kainz in 1954. After their marriage, Earl acquired a teaching position in Kremlin and then spent 25 years teaching in Livingston. Afterwards, Earl became a minister for the United Methodist Church which led them to Scobey for six years and Big Sandy for four years. They retired to Billings in 1995. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Albert, Art, Ralph, Ray and Jim; her sisters, Clara Frank and Mildred Keefer; and her son, Jerry Joe. She is survived by her loving husband, Earl L. Kainz of Billings; her daughter, Clara (Tom) Liedle of Bozeman; and grandchildren Daniel Liedle of Bozeman and Jennifer Liedle and her fianc Cedrick Ford of Great Falls. Dorothy was a loving and caring mother and friend. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 345 Broadwater Ave., Billings. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church before the service.
