The Havre High tennis teams made the most out of its one makeup date this season. On Monday, the Blue Ponies played four duals in Great Falls and got plenty of match experience. In the morning, the HHS boys and girls took on Central A foes Anaconda and Butte Central, and the Ponies earned a clean sweep. The Havre girls took care of Anaconda, a girls only team, 5-2, and thumped the Maroons 7-0. On the boys side, HHS beat Butte Central 6-1 in the morning. The afternoon session saw HHS make up duals against Class AA rivals Great Falls High and CMR, and the Ponies saw much stiffer competition. The HHS girls won four matches against GFH, a Class AA state title contender, while CMR beat the Ponies 6-2. In the afternoon matches, the duos of Morgan McCann and Jolee Landgraf and Melissa Kittelson and Mikaela Lipp were victorious, while in singles, Landgraf, Christina Plum and Sierra Kannberg all won matches against the Bison. Plum and Kannberg had strong overall outings for the Ponies on Tuesday, each going 3-1. Christina Mack was also strong for HHS in singles. Against the Great Falls schools, the HHS boys also won the three matches in a 4-4 tie with GFH, but won just once against the Rustlers. Against the Bison. The team of Kyle Miller and Mason Sheppard knocked off GFH's top doubles tandem, while Jeremy Jensen and Justin Jensen and Brayden Grimson and Zach Cichosz also captured doubles wins. Havre's lone victory against CMR came by way of senior Shane Kemmer at the No. 1 singles spot. Kemmer beat a tough opponent in CMR's Justin Accord. Havre will next be in action at the Lewistown Invitational on Saturday. The meet is the final tuneup before next week's Central A Divisional tournament, also in Lewistown.
