Memorials in Barbara's honor may be made to the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home, P.O. Box 1149, Chinook, MT 59523. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home, Havre. Barbara was born on June 10, 1923, in Flint, Mich., to parents, Herald and Eva Dickinson. She spent her early years on the family farm near Davison, Mich., with her parents and younger brother, Joe. Barbara graduated from Davison High School in 1940 and Baker Business School in 1941 taking shorthand, typing and bookkeeping. In 1943 she and a high school friend traveled from Davison to Los Angeles to work for Avion Industries where they made airplane parts for World War II. While at a local dance in L.A. featuring Les Brown and His Band of Renown, she met Lloyd Hellebust. Lloyd was in the Army Special Cadet program at a local college. Barbara and Lloyd were soon married in Pasadena, Calif., on March 7, 1944, and later moved to Brownwood, Texas, where Lloyd was stationed at Camp Bowie. After the war they lived for a short time in Davison before moving to Havre, Mont., where they raised three children Lynda, Carol and Eric. While raising her family, Barbara worked as a medical record librarian at Sacred Heart Hospital, Havre Clinic and Deaconess Hospital. Barbara enjoyed reading, piano, singing in Methodist Church choir, cooking and sewing. She spent much of her leisure time in the Bear Paw Mountains where she and Lloyd shared their cabin with family and friends. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eva Dickinson, and son-inlaw, Dale Staudacher. She is survived by her brother, Joe Dickinson (Mary Margaret) of Holmes Beach, Fla.; children, Lynda Collins (Neil) of Tampa, Fla., Carol Staudacher of Havre, Mont., and Eric Hellebust (Jean Gerard) of Grass Valley, Calif., grandchildren, Julie Dixon, Rusty Collins, Jackie Swisher, Jamey Lammerding, Shane Lammerding, Jeff Lammerding and Jessica Hellebust and 16 great-grandchildren. Special thanks go out to the staff and administration at the Sweet Memorial Home in Chinook, Mont., where Barbara received loving care through the later years of her life.
