It was a difficult night all the way around for the Havre High girls basketball team. On Thursday night at the CMR Fieldhouse in Great Falls, the Blue Ponies could never get on track offensively, while the CMR Rustlers made it look easy in a 56-18 nonconference win. HHS surrendered 20 points to CMR's Jordan Bagley, and the Ponies could never recover from scoring just six points in the first 16 minutes of the game. The Rustlers opened the game by outscoring HHS 14-4 in the first quarter. The lead grew to 27-6 at intermission as Havre managed just two points in the second stanza. CMR continued to blitz the Ponies in the second half, although HHS did pick up the pace in the third quarter. Havre scored nine points to CMR's 12 to make the score 39-15 at the end of three periods. However, the damage had been done, and in the final eight minutes of the contest, HHS scored just three more points. Bagley was 8-of-11 from the field and was perfect from the foul line Thursday night. Hayley Vining added eight points for the Rustlers, who improved to 9-3. As a team, SCMR was 21-47 from the field for better than 48 percent. CMR also got several fastbreak points. Hayley Donovan scored a teamhigh eight points and had six rebounds for the Blue Ponies, and Cassi Darrah chipped in with four points. Jaclyn Evans and Paighton Gilman each finished with two assists. The Ponies are 3-9 overall and will return home to face the Class AA Great Falls High Bison on Saturday. Tip time for the HHS/Bison game is slated for 5 p.m. at the Havre High gymnasium.
