Mary “Marge” (Kelly) Danell, 86, of Great Falls, died on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at her residence of natural causes. At her request no local services are planned. Schnider Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Marge was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Raymond, S.D., to Michael and Myrtle Kelly. Marge was raised in Raymond, S.D. and Havre, Mont. She graduated form Havre High School in 1941 and Northern Montana College in 1943. She married George “Jiggs” Danell on Sept. 18, 1943, in Havre, Mont. Marge was employed by Havre High School as a secretary/bookkeeper. She later worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for Western Drug Stores and Don’s Medical Pharmacy. Marge retired in 1982. After retirement, Jiggs and Marge spent summers at their cabin in Clear Creek, where they were often joined by family and friends. Winter months were spent in Cathedral City, Calif., with close friends. They logged many highway miles, traveling to their grandkids' sporting events and other activities. They were their grandkids biggest fans. Marge was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. In 2000, Marge moved to Great Falls to be closer to her daughter. She enjoyed spending time with her many good friends at the Golden Eagle Plaza. She is survived by her daughters, Pat Compson and husband Will of Great Falls and Barbara Kolppa of Puiallup, Wash.; six grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1996; brothers, Jim and Pat Kelly, and her parents.
