The recruiting season has kicked into high gear, and the Montana State University-Northern wrestling team has inked a pair of quality high school wrestlers. On Monday, MSU-N head coach Tyson Thivierge announced the signing of Jared Miller from Kotzebue, AK and Blake Adams from Deer Park, Wash. Miller is slated to wrestle at 165 or 174 pounds for the Lights and will major in Civil Engineering while at MSUN. "Having a talent like Jared is going to help solidify our line-up." Thivierge said. "He is a terror on the mat, one who scrambles well and never stops coming after his opponents. He has had incredible coaching over his wrestling career and we look for him to make an immediate impact on our roster. He’s big, he’s tenacious, he moves well and he wants to win. One of his best qualities that was evident during his trip was that he is very eager and excited about working out with his new teammates Evan Hinebauch and Max Payne. Having those two on our roster helped seal up this recruit and we couldn’t be more pleased right now." Miller is a two-time Alaska State Champion, a runner-up as a sophomore and was fourth as a freshman. He was coached by Northern Alum and NAIA National Champion Mark Lane for the past four years. He has also spent time being coached by the likes of Mike Lane, Emmett Willson and David Ray during his wrestling career in Alaska. He finished up his high school wrestling career with a stellar record of 113-13. Adams is projected to wrestle at 125 pounds for the Lights next season. He is a three-time Washington state place winner, taking third as a sophomore, winning a state championship as a junior and placing second this year as a senior. He was teammates with current Lights wrestlers Brandon Leliefeld and Cody Miller. "As a coaching staff, we are very excited to sign Blake," Thivierge said. "Having teammates follow teammates is a great channel to work with. He is a very strong and talented wrestler with huge potential at 125. He comes from a very successful program and knows what it takes to be successful. We have been adamant with getting recruits that want to work hard and want to win at the highest level and Blake has expressed his interest in helping our program accomplish our ultimate goals as a team and as individuals."
