Three men are awaiting felony charges accusing them of starting a fire that caused $5,000 damage destroying 15 hay bales in a field near Harlem Aug. 5, Blaine County Undersheriff Pat Pyette said this morning.
Pyette declined to name the three, two 18-year-olds and one 17-year-old, until charges are filed by the Blaine County Attorney’s Office.
The three also face misdemeanor vandalism charges accusing them of spray-painting numerous pieces of property in Harlem the same day, including Harlem High School, the city library, Dugan’s Tire & Service, the Havre trailer used for the Montana Seed Show, two personal vehicles, a carport and a camper.
Pyette  estimates the restitution in the case will be $5,000 for the hay fire, $1,000 for the vandalism and another $5,000 to the fire department for its expenses in fighting the fire.
