William Velk
William Velk, 85, died Friday morning, Aug. 27, 2010, at Northern Montana Care Center, due to natural causes.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service for William will be held at a later time, along with a service for Kathryn.
Memorials in William's honor may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus School, 430 7th Ave., Havre, MT 59501.
Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
William was born, Oct. 15, 1924, north of Havre, to Christine and Balthaser Velk. He was raised in Inverness, Mont., and was the youngest of 11 children.
He was married to Kathryn (Klenk) Velk on Sept. 24, 1947, in Hingham, Mont. They lived and farmed in Inverness and later moved to Havre where they raised their family, and Bill farmed north of Havre and Inverness.
He devoted himself to the farm, and was also involved at St. Jude Thaddeus Church, and St. Jude Thaddeus School, where he donated the first bus to the school.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Klenk) Velk, April 18, 2010; his parents; four brothers; and five sisters.
Bill is survived by his sons, Vic (Candace) Velk of Havre, Mont., Steve (Jackie) Velk of Minot, N.D., and Lauren (Mary) Velk of Ronan, Mont.; his daughters, Sandy (George) Price of Vonore, Tenn., and Patty (Bill) Schulz of Great Falls, Mont.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen Woodruff of Bothell, Wash.
